CANON INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: D.E.S.C.O. (Death/Extermination Submersible Combat Organism)
CANON: Disgaea 4
HISTORY:
Desco's page.
Disgaea 4's page.

STRENGTHS:

Loyal: Desco is fiercely loyal to whoever she considers an ally or friend and will do her best to help that person and protect them. In canon, her entire reason for existing is to be a sister for Fuka and powerful being to help her take over the world. The bounds of her loyalty can be shown through her relationship with Fuka, as most of the things she does are to impress her or help her further her goals. She puts Fuka's best interests in mind, even when she doesn't nessecarily agree with the things Fuka says. An example of this is when Fuka complains that Desco is too tomboyish and she doesn't want to have a tomboy for a sister. Although Desco doesn't exactly like the idea, she still agrees and tries to be more "girly". Early on, too, Fuka says that what she says goes, so if she says that the color white is black, then it's black. Desco happily agrees, saying that if Fuka says Crows are white, she'll just paint them all white.

Upbeat: Overall, Desco is a pretty happy child. Her main temperament is upbeat and jovial, even when it probably shouldn't be. The above statement about painting crows white is said pretty happily, despite it being effectively a command and kind of ridiculous, and it's a trend that pops up many times throughout the game. When Fuka points out that UV rays are her worst enemy, Desco cheers, saying that she thought heroes were her only enemy, but she's learned to add UV rays to that list. Artina even notes this when they enter the human world, admiring how cheerful Desco is despite having been thrown away and locked up in Hades, among all the other hardships she and the party have overcome.

Determined: As a very goal-oriented person, Desco knows what she wants and is more than willing to put in the time and effort to achieve her goals. Although she might slip up every now and again or fall short of what she wants, she'll nevertheless get back up and keep trying. When she was feeling down and listless, it was Valvatorez helping her remember her goal that spurred her back on after the Desco ending, when she begins to feel purposeless after Fuka said she doesn't want world domination anymore. Instead of simply giving up, she decides to redirect her ambitions in order to support Val instead of Fuka.

FLAWS:

Naivé: While Desco is sharper than she might seem, she still has a childlike naiveté. Though she does call Fuka out on some of the stupider things she does, she still is very easily roped into believing a lot of silly things, typically when someone she likes or trusts says so. For example, when Judge Nemo tells them the only way to stop the moon from falling is to push it up, Fuka starts jumping up and down to try and redirect the orbit. Instead of pointing out the ridiculousness of it all, Desco simply agrees and joins in. Then there's the time when Fuka says she's so strong because of sleep (since she thinks everything that's going on is a dream). However, Desco knows it's reality and the questionable logic is pointed out, yet Desco still cheerfully relates strength to amount of sleep. She also does a similar thing when Flonne is talking about love, with Desco saying that she's awakened to love while also wondering if she picked up any new skills.

Fearful: Though not exactly cowardly, Desco has been shown to hide behind people in her game on more than a few times when things get really scary. Although she's a demon and is working towards being a final boss, even she can be susceptible to the very things she would generally look up to. However, more often than not she is at least able to conquer her fear with the help of her friends, though her fear remains.

Overly reliant on others: In canon, Desco's entire purpose is to be a sister to Fuka and to help her achieve her dream of world domination. When anything threatens that or she might lose Fuka, she freaks out and that's where things generally get bad. In the Fuka and Desco Show storyline, Desco actually splits in half because she doesn't want her to leave and when Fuka was about to die, Desco literally broke down and couldn't even form a coherent sentence. In another ending, when Fuka gave up her supposed dream and was being really mean to her, she went to Valvatorez for help, who reignited her passion for being a final boss (even without Fuka) and she decided to look up to him as an older sibling instead of Fuka. Without other people who care about her, Desco loses all sense of purpose and feels hopeless.

CANON ABILITIES:

☠ Like all Disgaea characters, Desco can learn magic consisting of fire, ice, wind, star, and healing.

☠ She has several attacks of her own. One allows her to shoot dual lasers from the octo-rabbit on her back's mouths (she can also shoot lasers out of her eyes). Another has the octorabbit transform into a sword and smash into the ground below her, causing an explosion. Her final attack transforms her into a massive monster call Yog Sothoth.

☠ Desco has the ability to transform into a sword that is both incredibly strong and sharp.

☠ She also has minor transformation powers. Her tail can stretch for incredibly long distances and she is also able to split herself into multiple copies, although it seems only under extreme stress.

☠ Desco possesses passive skills that buff her power when she's in close range to allies and can further increase her stats when her health drops to 2/3 and then 1/3 (basically multiple forms as befitting a final boss).

Finally, Desco possesses levitation, but only for herself and her octorabbit. Although she can use it to fly, she's only ever shown flying for very small intervals and usually only staying in place while in the fair. Otherwise she just floats slightly above the ground.

AU INFORMATION

AU CHARACTER NAME: Desco Whateley
AGE: 10
GRADE: 5th grade
AU BACKSTORY:

☠ Born into the Outlands to a pretty powerful daemon family.

☠ Spent a few years with them, had various other siblings, but was generally considered the runt. Desco was the smallest and the weakest, especially compared to her eldest sister, who showed much more promise at Desco's age.

☠ In order to get rid of her, they sent her out to fulfill a task that she couldn't possibly do, hoping that she'd wind up dead and not a problem. The job was to attack a city populated by a large chunk of mages. She was about four at the time, so as you can imagine the attack was pretty pathetic. Instead of trying to kill her, though, one kind mage family took her in and decided to raise her as their own.

☠ She tried to escape, but realized quickly that she had no home left in the Outlands. Or rather, she never really did. Though still cold towards her new family, over time she grew to love and cherish them. She developed a fondness for games as a hobby and took a particular sign to the villains of those games, specifically the final bosses. They embodied everything a good daemon should. A daemon that she couldn't be. However, she decided that she would become a strong, destructive daemonic force, but one that fought alongside the humans when Nightfall came rather than against them.

A final boss against daemonity.

As she got older, her desire to achieve this dream only grew. However, her parents were not nearly experienced enough with daemon physiology to help her in the way she needed, so they decided to send her to Daybreak in order for her to be able to discover her true potential.

AU PERSONALITY DEVIATION: Basically exactly the same as canon, except replace her casual "KILL HUMANS" talk with "KILL DAEMONS" and taking over the world with stopping Nightfall. Maybe conquering the Outlands, too, but that's talk for later.

RACE: Daemon.
SECRET SOCIETY: Part of the Whateley family of mages, but is too young to actually participate in most of their affairs. Overall they're one of the few mage families that has a relatively good relationship with Daybreak and find many of their beliefs and teachings to be far too brutal and outdated.

POWERS: At the moment, Desco's powers are considerably limited due to her age and lack of experience. She has been training to use them with relative efficient, but there's many aspects she hasn't yet discovered. Currently she struggles to shape-shift her body beyond growing her tail and so she cannot assume her giant Yog Sothoth form.

She can use magic, but the effects are limited and she can only cast them a few times before she tires herself out. Likewise, she can shoot lasers out of the octorabbit on her back's mouths and her eyes, but they too are weak. While they can cause wounds even now, they're also difficult to focus and control, especially the ones from her octorabbit, meaning she might lose control and cause more harm than good.

Her strength and resilience is more impressive than a regular old human's, but she can't do anything like pick up a car. She could lift up a full grown adult, though not without trouble, and she still possesses her levitation/floating powers, though she cannot "fly" over long distances or for very long, nor can she go very high up.

So basically she has more or less all the powers she possesses in canon, but severely toned down, both for the game and because she's still a kid.

HOUSING: No preference.
